Laura is a certified yoga therapist and yoga teacher (ERYT 500) who is passionate about the healing power of yoga. Initially drawn to yoga for the physical challenge, Laura’s perspective shifted entirely when she was diagnosed with cancer in 2003. Yoga was an essential part of her recovery, which prompted her to become a certified yoga therapist at the 1,000 hour level through Integrative Yoga Therapy. Laura strongly believes that yoga should bring us peace, grounding, strength, and radiant health – and the ability to gracefully navigate life’s transitions and challenges. Her teaching is safe, attentive, and compassionate, and her classes typically include pranayama, meditation, and mudra in addition to asana.
In addition to teaching group classes Laura has a private yoga therapy practice. Her specialty is working with cancer survivors, special needs children, orthopedic injuries, and women with fertility issues. She has established yoga programs in hospitals, cancer centers, rehab clinics, and physical therapy clinics. Laura has completed almost 2,000 hours of yoga training since she began teaching in 2002; she is most influenced by her studies with Joseph and Lilian Le Page, Scott Blossom, Sonia Sumar, Paul Grilley, Richard Freeman, Rod Stryker, and Bikram Choudhury.
When not on the mat, Laura is a career coach who helps other professionals increase their impact on their community. www.laurakupperman.com
