The Little Yoga Studio has always stood for something. An open and inclusive space to practice yoga. An affordable place for all. No memberships. Excellent yoga education. Secular.
And, we still stand for these things. But now we stand for much more.
Over the last month, we have actively questioned our mission. We realized that we needed to do better. If we were to identify as anti-racist, BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ inclusive, we had to make sure our business truly stood for and acted on these values.
Perhaps because we are a queer-owned business, we felt we were “doing enough” by simply being. How wrong were we. The Black Lives Matter movement has woken us to the reality that we were NOT doing enough. Simply being was not enough.
Now is the time for us to sharpen our vision to ensure that inclusivity, anti-racist principles, and giving money to socially conscious grassroots organizations stand at the center of our mission at the Little Yoga Studio.
At the Little Yoga Studio, we are:
- anti-racist
- BIPOC inclusive
- LGBTQIA+ inclusive
We are committed to providing a safe space for every body to practice yoga. We pledge to continue our education and activism around racial justice. We know that yoga can serve as a healing and empowering practice for all!
